What Hezbollah is

Hezbollah is a Shiite political and militant organization based in Lebanon. It was formed in 1982 during the conflict following the Lebanese Civil War and the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon.

Today it has three main roles:

1. 🪖 Militant / paramilitary group (armed fighters)
2. 🏛 Political party in the government of Lebanon
3. 🤝 Social organization that runs schools, hospitals, and welfare programs

What “partisans” means

“Partisans” usually refers to irregular fighters who resist an occupying army, often using guerrilla warfare. A famous example is the resistance fighters during World War II in countries like Yugoslavia or France.

Are they the same?

• ✔ Similar: Hezbollah fighters have used guerrilla tactics, like partisans.
• ❌ Different: Hezbollah is more organized—it has a political party, military structure, and government influence, which typical partisan groups do not have.
